Biomechanics, simply said, is the science of how the body works. So just as you take your car to the mechanic because it is not driving right and the engine doesn’t have any power, we can watch how you move/exercise/etc. and decide what needs to be changed to fix the problem. This will save wear and tear on your “moving parts” and, in sports, create more speed and power.
Your tennis game will improve when you are able to react quicker, swing with more power, and have greater range of motion; plus you will be able to perform the techniques that your coach is teaching you.
Good body mechanics will prevent injuries by making sure that all the pieces (hips, shoulders, knees) are moving correctly and have the right amount of muscle support. Think of having the wheels of your car or bicycle in proper alignment for a smooth ride and better mileage.
Sorry to say this, but nope. And just getting stronger without fixing the underlying mechanics will most likely speed up your date with an orthopedic surgeon. Think of it this way, if the wheels on my bike are grinding the gears, I can pedal harder to go faster but in the end I will be grinding the gears even worse.
We are different in several important ways. First, we DO NOT sign you into a long-term contract. We feel that we should earn your business each month and if you’re not coming, then we should not be taking your money. Secondly, we focus on individual sessions instead of big group classes so we can focus on you. Lastly, we focus on biomechanics and follow a strength progression that fits your current status. The goal is to make you stronger and healthier, not to make you puke.
At Coach K Sports Performance you can expect to be treated as an individual not as customer #469. You will develop a program that includes GOALS and Purposeful Practice, and you will be expected to work hard. Your initial session will focus on a biomechanics assessment that is pertinent to your GOALS and then develop a program—mobility, strength, speed, etc—that is appropriate for your plan.
